The Blessing of the thorn-Course

Perfect Hope offers The Blessing of the Thorn Course which provides biblically based tools to restore hope and healing for Christian men and women struggling with the effects of sexual sin. This material was developed by Jonathan from over 40 years of counseling and ministry experience. He has utilized the material in hundreds of his workshops. The primary goal of this program is to promote the healing and recovery from sexual sin as well as an improved intimacy with God and others.  This course can be used within a group setting or completed through an individual mentoring or counseling process. It is not, however, meant to be done in isolation or alone. The importance of accountability and discipleship will be a primary focus throughout this course and your healing process.

·      Who: The content of this course is lengthy and intense at times. It is intended to be utilized by Christian men or women who realize they have a struggle with sexual sin and are ready to do whatever it takes to be healed.   

·      How: This course can be used in a group or individual setting. Please contact me before using in groups. Group discounts are available and guidelines need to be in place for maximum benefit.

·      When: Because the course is in eBook and electronic format, you can begin your journey of hope and healing today. Once you have ordered the course, the eBooks will be emailed to you.

·      What: The Blessing of the Thorn Course contains 3 eBooks and 3 hours of video instruction. The 3 eBooks are The Blessing of the Thorn book, The Blessing of the Thorn workbook and Pursuing Purity Devotional book. The 4 videos are divided into 15 sections and come from Jonathan teaching a small group regarding the content of the workbook.

·      How long will it take: The minimum length of time for completion is 10 weeks. Depending on the size, using this in a group setting could run at least 15 weeks.  

Course Content:

• In The Blessing of the Thorn (Second Edition)book, we will begin to take away some of the mystery of sexual sin, develop a clearer understanding of how it takes root and present practical biblically based tools to assault it. Let us become the church who is not afraid to step into the fight with Truth and Grace and take back the ground the enemy has taken. The Blessing of the Thorn is filled with 200 pages of insight which take the mystery out of sexual sin and gives hope to those dealing with its effects.

• The Blessing of the Thorn Workbook is 132 pages filled with biblically based assignments and tools intended to empower men or women struggling with sexual sin. The workbook is in a writable PDF/eBook format. There is no need, unless you wish, to print the workbook. Just download the material and begin. When you reach an assignment section you can type your responses onto the PDF.

Jonathan shares his personal journey of healing along with insight into the heart of sexual sin. These teachings are divided into 4 videos and 15 different sections. Each filled with assignments and detailed strategies into experiencing true long term hope and healing.

Workshops

Workshops 

Jonathan Jones has provided individual workshops for Christian men struggling with sexual sin since 1999. These workshops have been conducted through face to face or video conference formats. Each workshop is unique and based upon the needs of each individual participant. The video conference workshops are still available. The workshops would cover all the content of the Blessing of the Thorn Course as well as individual instruction and discipleship by the author and creator of the course. This option is especially beneficial when it comes to Christian men in church leadership struggling with sexual temptation. Those interested in pursuing the workshop option would first need to be assessed through a telephone interview.

Perfect Hope does not provide therapy or any diagnostic process. The workshops will not interfere with any on-going treatment or therapeutic process. It some cases it may be necessary to contact an applicant’s primary physician or therapist for approval.

Cost: The cost for the video conference meetings with Jonathan Jones is $50 per session. These payments are made under the Workshop Payment tab on the website. Here are some of the workshop video conference options available.

·      Full Workshop Experience: This would include Jonathan guiding and discipling the participant through the complete Blessing of the Thorn Course.

·      Jump Start: Sometimes we need a little boost or encouragement to get things going. Jonathan will meet with you 1-2 times to help initiate the start-up of your course work.

·      Getting un-stuck: Some of the sections and assignments in the course can be difficult. Jonathan will spend time with you addressing any impediments which can occur. These are scheduled on an as needed basis throughout the course.

·      Refresher: Many men, through the years, have found it helpful to check in with Jonathan on a monthly basis. You may have never experienced long periods of sobriety and don’t know what to expect. These meetings encourage and remind you of the tools you need to continue to utilize. The most dangerous time of recover comes when things are going well. Our “I” begins to grow back. Addressing this return to self-reliance means maintaining an active recover plan.

·      Workshop training: Having a designated person within a church is extremely beneficial in addressing the assault of sexual sin. Jonathan provides training for individuals and leaders within the church. See our training section for details and scheduling.
