Stolen Water

Proverbs 9:17 “Stolen water is sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.”

The Raiders of the Lost Ark movies were highly successful and popular. We were entertained and excited by the risk taking and dangerous adventures of Indiana Jones. Your adrenaline and endorphin levels may have elevated as you vicariously participated in each of his death defying circumstances. In this very moment, there are thousands of individuals who are addicted to this rush of chemicals and believe what they are consuming is “sweet and pleasant.” This chemical addiction does not come through the use of adventurous behavior or external chemicals ingested via smoke, pill or needle. These highly addictive chemicals are internally produced each time they visit the “secret” world of pornography. The secret world of porn does not warn its participants of its deadly hooks. It only lures with promises of sweet rewards. Proverbs 9:18 tells us what waits for us following the sweet and pleasant experience. Proverbs 9:18 “But he does not know that the dead are there, that her guests are in the depths of hell.” Maybe the Surgeon General should put that as a warning label on every pornographic website and image.
